Copacabana

We've made it to Bolivia. It's our 13th country, only 3 more to go (well 4 if we sneak a few days in Uruguay). Bolivia is land locked (it used to have a coast but they lost it in a war to Peru), but they still have a navy, it's based in Copacabana, Lake Titikaka is their "sea". Here's one of their fleet.

From Puno we traveled round to the Bolivian side of Lake Titikaka, to Copacabana. We stayed in a brilliant hotel overlooking the bay. We treated our selves to the honeymoon suite as we're going to be camping for the next 4 weeks. Here's a pic of the room and me outside looking over the bay. The windows were 12 foot high, it was amazing watching the sunset over the lake.

We took a boat out to the Isla Del Sol. It's where the Incas think the sun was born. We met up with Tony, the guy we did the Inka trail with. The boat dropped us off at the north of the island and the three of us walked to the south. The scenery was amazing, a bit like New Zealand. Gav and I stayed the night, but Tony went back that afternoon, so we walked down to the jetty to wave him off. It was 1000 steep steps down, and a million back up to our B&B. From the B&B we could see the Bolivian mountains, they're over 6000m, they look majestic towering over the lake.

The island is pretty basic, no cars, just donkeys and a few llamas, but it was really peaceful as most visitors are day trippers. The restaurant we went to for dinner didn´t even have electricity, just a wood fire and candles.

Can I have that Corrie update in Latin - I may understand more of it.
We had an enjoyable evening on Saturday. Missed you both of course, but arranged to have a rendezvous on your return, and hopefully a weekend away too (you can bring your photos ......)
I did the necessary on Uma - he's had a fling with a nurse, but never again apparently (it's not the done thing when you are a very important Physician)and then we went through our single friends and only managed one between us, so speed dating it is. He wasn't persuaded but it's defintely the way forward!

Gav, having marked 28 incredibly tedious essays on OC I can confirm Northenden was mentioned as his home by 0% of students, Huntingdon by 93%, so either you or the internet are wrong. I am wishing I was near a wood fire and candles in Bolivia and not a pile of mediocre plagarism!

Mios Dios, I don´t know where to start.

Ste, I realised what Norris was upto half way thru your explanantion. Excellent. I still laugh at his comment when Les put up his Christmas lights one year and he came outside shaking his head while muttering "Tut, I know how the people of Lytham St. Annes feel now." Cheers for SKY+ing This Life for us. Read about the premise on BBC website.

Sam, I am not wrong, he lived in the house opposite St Wilf´s church; there is a plaque(!) and church records to prove it. What did the other 7% say?

I´m sure Nige and Teresa are enjoying updates on Um´s love life reading this in New Zealand while they try and find out what their daughter is doing in Bolivia.

Bec is exploring a mine in Potosi this morning with the rest of our tour group. I had a lie in and watched Beverley Hills 90210. Bec said I must be the only person ever to go to Nasca and not look at the lines and be in Potosi without visiting the mines. The mine was once the largest in South America. I wanted to visit Sucre instead which is 2 hours from here and is a UNESCO world heritage site. On way to bus station now.

Sam, please correct Ste´s Latin ; )

Adios amigos

Hi Gav,
the other 7% didn't feel it was important to state where he was born (their internet page obviously didn't have it on).
Ste, Ste, Ste, any student of any romance language knows that 'us' is a masculine ending, so if you must attempt Latin 'Sama est geeka' please - or now as I am even geekier, perhaps 'Sama est geekissima'.
Annoyingly I'd quite like to know what Norris was up to.
