Feliz Año Nuevo

Happy New Year everyone. We celebrated the French new year for Lisa and Bruno then the English one for everyone else. Gav got a bit homesick when he saw the fireworks at the Millenium wheel on BBC World.

We thought we'd do the new year in the Traditional Peruvian way so we went to an Irish Bar. We met up with two of the people we were with on Christmas day, Elly and Dave. The peruvians have everything in yellow for New Year we never found out why, but we joined in. I managed to keep my hat all night, but I lost my coat and glasses, my real glasses not the 2007 ones.

So far we've spent 2007 recovering.

the yellow is for good luck for the new year, in a general sort of way, they were selling yellow undies all over santiago all week...people also walk laps around their houses carrying a suitcase at the new year for good luck in travel, eat 12 grapes and make 12 wished, and wear green undies for luck in money and red ones for luck in love...some people say you can just wear white ones and get it all because it contains all the colors, other just wear a few pairs

happy new year!

Cheers Jacob

Hope Amnesty is going well, you had a good New Year with the 5th biggest firework display in the world and you are enjoying the Santiago sunshine. Thanks for telling us what we should have known. Does wearing black undies bring any luck and I think I staggered round Plaza de Armas at least ten times so I'm OK there.
