Birthday Boy

Gav is 36 today. Here he is wearing the new united top his mum and dad bought him. I let him wear it to school as a special treat.
So far he's having a good day. I made him breakfast. During morning break at school they brought out a huge cake with a candle, and the whole school sang "Happy Birthday" in Spanish.
The tradition in Ecuador is to bite a chunk out of the cake instead of cutting it. Gav obliged and got his face shoved into the gateau. Someone at the school took photos so we'll try to get them on the blog.
Gav gets to choose where we're going for lunch today so it will probably be cheese sandwiches in our local cafe. We're staying in tonight as we've got an exam at 8.30 tomorrow morning. But we're going out for a posh meal tomorrow. We tried to book a table yesterday, but (we think) the restaurant said they didn´t open in the evenings, despite a huge sign saying they were open 18.30-22.30. Either they didn't like the look of us in our unironed clothes, or our spanish is worse than we thought.

Firstly, I wasn´t wearing my superb new UTD top. Secondly, I do have Yahtzee on my new phone which has slowed my learning down a bit. Thirdly, still middle aged according to A Mole, so there A Rash! Fourthly, no idea.
After my 6th birthday morning yesterday; Cake in playground, football top from mummy and daddy, it was back to reality of being on a tight budget - shoes resoled and aftershave cream as birthday present. Very practical and mucho necessario.
Steven, unlkike you my memory is fantastic. The essay you refer to was in fact for our 3rd year English exam so I could hardly do it on the bus or copy it from a newspaper. I think the sentence that really got to you was when I described his goal for Wales against Spain. I wrote ¨he seemed to hover in the air horizontally at shoulder height and then with perfect control drilled the ball into the top corner.¨ Told you my memory was good.
Um, Bec´s Spanish let her down the teacher said handsome and also said she preferred me clean shaven.
Watched the Scotland v France game on ESPN today. The co-commentator was Mario Kempes.
